Lots of people are attracted to the beauty of Alicante city especially the nice beaches and delicious seafood.  The city is surrounded with historic buildings and medieval castles which are indeed interesting and wonderful sights to see. One could take before you even consider coming to the city is and that’s before you even book your flights to Alicante that you check around for Hotel deals and car hire deals. The more in advance you do this, the better it is going to be your wallet. Anyway, here’s some of them must see things in the city.

Castillo de Santa Barbara
The castle of Santa Barbara is one of the biggest fortresses in Europe. This historical castle has been preserved and its beauty has been restored.  You can also get a great view of the coast line because the castle is on top the Mount Benacantil summit. You can’t help but appreciate the beauty of this castle which is truly a spectacular landmark of Alicante.

Archaeological Museum of Alicante
The Archaeological Museum of Alicante museum of Alicante is just behind Santa Barbara Castle. This modern museum contains a great array of exhibits and its interior is full of Pre- History, the Middle ages and Iberian art.

Cathedral of San Nicolas de Bari
This cathedral is close to the town hall and one of the most popular attractions in Alicante. It was built in the 17th century in both baroque and renaissance architectural styles. The courtyard is consist of wooden doors and a serene garden. The main focal point of the church is the high altar.

Paseo de la Explanada
This is another interesting sight that is a favorite with both locals and tourists. You will be greeted with a very pleasant sea view where the promenade is set along. It is also lined with lush green palm trees and the pavements decorated with black, red and cream marbles. You can also go to the nearby café’s ice cream parlors and shops while you enjoy the scenery in Paseo de la Explanada.

The Old Town
The Cathedral of San Nicholas de Bari and the Town Hall are located in the old quarter of Alicante. The town has medieval streets and old houses. There are also some souvenir shops in the area that you can buy souvenir items from. The nightlife in Alicante is also awesome as they have a number of bars, restaurants and night clubs. You will also be amused with the vast array of entertainment that they provide.

Museu de Arte del Siglo XX Asegurada
This modern art museum in Alicante was opened in 1977. The famous sculptor and painter Eusebio Sempere donated his own collection of modern art to the museum making it all the more interesting. Other famous works include Calder, Chagall, Miro, Dali and Picaso.
